This used to happen to me, usually when my foot got really cold. Since I started exercising (lifting weights and stationary biking) it have almost disappeared.
Anyway, out of habit I sleep beside thick socks on and it really help to drink plenty of water .
I wouldn't hold supplements, as this could hide or fine-tuning symptoms of serious medical conditions (blood clots, peripheral arterial disease) or wreak other chemical imbalances inside the body. Just eat a suspended diet, exercise and maintain yourself hydrated.
And, if this continues, check near your doctor!
Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water and up your potassium intake (bananas are rich surrounded by potassium). Invest in a well brought-up multi-vitamin. Do some stretching before bed and when you carry up in the morning. As for hit and miss remedies my grandma swears by putting a bar of soap lower than the sheet at the foot of the bed (no idea what it does but she claims it works). If nought seems to give a hand make an appointment to see your doctor!
Leg cramps can be cause by many things similar to diabetes, calcium deficiency, sodium fewer and dehydration just to term a few. For many its calcium lesser amount but keep within mind calcium should be taken with magnesium. My husband have this problem and taking cal/mag. supplement really helps. He take 200mg. daily and if his legs cramp he take up to 2000mg. in a light of day. If that doesnt fix it for you go to your doctor and obtain some tests done.
Potassium is right and so is MAgnesium. You can get both within ahealth food or drugstore.
